Thirteen containers of bed slats left Thailand for a U.S. distribution center. Pests infested the load during ocean transit. When the problem was discovered, the original delivery plan had to change.
The stakes
The customer and consignee are not named here. The cargo response and delivery required coordinated handoffs.
A coordinated response
The recovery plan involved breaking down pallets, removing slats from packaging and brushing them before the material was arranged for treatment. Treatment and release belong to qualified, authorized providers under applicable requirements. Freight, handling and repacking needed to be coordinated before delivery.
Port to distribution center
After the response, the containers were drayed directly from the port to the customer's distribution center. They did not pass through a Capernaum facility. The containers continued to the planned consignee after the cargo response.
The lesson
Assign owners for each exception, record handoffs and confirm the receiving plan. Read our warehouse delivery checklist for the final step.
